LORD'S INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY

Activities

NCC
National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organization , comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens. In 1920 when the Indian Territorial Act was passed the 'University Corps' was replaced by University Training Corps (UTC). In 1942 the UTC was re-christened as the 'University Officers Training Corps'. The National Cadet Corps came into existence on 15 th July 1948 under the NCC Act XXXI of 1948 under the Ministry of Defence.
Lords recognises that much more is necessary for the complete development of personality. This is where the NCC helps young students to discipline themselves. NCC is a 3 year training course and earns the cadet a Certificate. NCC cadets are entitled to reserved seats in higher education courses. Training programmes in First Aid, Home Nursing, Para-Sailing, Trekking, Parades etc. are conducted in the morning hours, before the regular college timings, so as to facilitate student participation
NSS
The college has a very active NSS unit which conducts several programmes that are service-orientated. NSS volunteers are expected to undertake a project of their choice from the prescribed and sanctioned list of projects and put in atleast 120 hours of community service to obtain a Merit Certificate. Volunteering 240 hours of work and participation in a special camp, entitles the students to a Merit Certificate from the University and the college, which enables her to get preference in admission to courses in higher education. The NSS unit of our college enthusiastically organises various activities like Adult Literacy Programmes, Blood Donation Camps, Medical Camps, etc.
Science Fair
The Science Departments put up a number of exhibits, live demonstrations, working models & charts etc, show-casing the recent advances and innovative aspects of various field of science. The response to the exhibition was overwhelming. Students from several schools and colleges viewed the exhibits in rapt attention. Several dailies and TV channels gave extensive coverage to "Science Fest - 2004".
